RANET is a short form of RAdio and InterNET. It is a low cost but modern technology used for bringing weather, climate, agriculture, early warning and related information to the rural community, by making use of the World Space Satellites and equipments like World Space Digital Radios, Personal Computers and so on. RANET Ethiopia is part of the Global RANET projects intended for communicating weather, climate and related information to the rural community of Ethiopia so as to contribute to the ongoing Rural Development Activities. The National Meteorological Agency of Ethiopia is in charge of implementing the RANET Ethiopia project with its Partners. Currently, climate bulletins are available for the Amhara, Tigray, Oromyia, Somali, Harari and Dire Dawa, SNNPR and Benishangul-Gumuz Regions. On this page, we have attempted to include weather and climate related information, which we think are important for the rural communities. The Agroclimatic Resources include growing period maps, mean onset and cessation dates of the main rainy season, river flood prone areas and mean seasonal rainfall maps of selected seasons. The Agromet Bulletins include ten daily (dekadal), monthly and seasonal Agrometeorological bulletins which provide Agrometeorological advisories for respective period. The Health Bulletin Contains information relevant for the Health Sector. The National Forecasts include weather/climate assessments, forecasts and outlooks on ten daily, monthly and seasonal bases for the whole Nation.
